What I didn't mention was that Jennie wouldn't actually let me buy a Laser Jammer as being a bridge too far when it came to my occasional dealings with the long arm of the law. If you look carefully at some of the photos, you can see her thumbprint on my forehead :-).Geoff Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05041523109817248619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341114511830074977.post-88934288357189284152010-12-01T14:51:48.123+13:002010-12-01T14:51:48.123+13:00OKay, a bit of a old blog for me to comment on, bu...OKay, a bit of a old blog for me to comment on, but when I get the chance I have been reading some, I agree with you on allaspects . My detector has saved me many many times, yet I dont rely on it completly. Situational awareness plays a big part. Your abilty to descibe things in a technical manner is exceptional.Rogerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12048736059922578612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341114511830074977.post-1208908332881748572010-05-04T14:22:16.769+12:002010-05-04T14:22:16.769+12:00Geoff:

A couple of weeks later I mentioned in passing that I purchased another bike, and she said "oh, I thought that bike looked larger"

bob
bobskoot: wet coast scootinAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258612401956399482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341114511830074977.post-65169613754603592872010-05-04T10:43:30.585+12:002010-05-04T10:43:30.585+12:00White walls... With the exception of State highway 1 which runs the length of the country, there aren't too many straight roads and not that many multi-lane freeways either (mercifully).

Thank you for the advice but there's a catch! I'm on tiptoe on a Speed Triple and Jennie would notice when it's on its side in the driveway with me under it :-).

You mean that She Who Holds The Purse Strings didn't notice a dent in your bank account? ;-). This is not to say that I don't ride briskly once in a while, but I choose my place. Sometimes I scout an area then hit it on the way back.
I also have another technique which perhaps if I can explain it correctly. May not work in your case, only on freeways. I put myself behind another vehicle in the slow lane so that "they" are the target and I am in its shadow. As I get closer and pass, then I change back to the slow lane and shadow the next vehicle ahead.
I have a tendancy to go faster on uphills, then let off the throttle about half way up and let rolling resistance put me at the speed limit as I hit the top.

another hint: trade the street triple in for the speed triple. Make sure it is the same colour and say nothing. Jenny won't notice anything. let her go out with the "girls" for lunch a few times so you can transfer all the farkles over to your new bike.

I've done this 3 times and no one knew that I upgraded my bikes. They were all the same colour

bob
Wet Coast ScootinAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258612401956399482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341114511830074977.post-9853359857228323552010-05-04T09:25:56.603+12:002010-05-04T09:25:56.603+12:00Hello Bob, you clearly show far more maturity than...Hello Bob, you clearly show far more maturity than me apart from your colour choice of Crocs. In mitigation though, I do choose time and place carefully if I'm feeling like exceeding the speed limit by a small margin.

Hmmmm... I was only mulling over farkles the other day and there's nothing else I currently need or want (2 different things of course). New rubber isn't far off though. Those soft compound hoops don't last long, even on a lightweight Triple!Geoff Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05041523109817248619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4341114511830074977.post-89569200490291006712010-05-04T05:19:33.511+12:002010-05-04T05:19:33.511+12:00Geoff:

It was cutting edge for its time. There was the squelch control which you had to set and I used to get a headache from all the false alarms. If you turned the squelch too high, then you missed its purpose.

I am more of a 5+ rider so I do not require one. I don't need the speed nor the tickets. The problem if you are in a group, then the slowest one will be pulled over . If they ask me who you are then I can say with a straight face " . . . but, but . . . I don't even know Geoff with his speed triple"

If you add any more farckles your bike is going to topple from being too top heavy

bob
Wet Coast ScootinAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05258612401956399482noreply@blogger.com
