Some wonderful bikes!

There are some interesting bikes popping up in NZ at present on TradeMe (the equivalent of eBay). The first is a 1987 Triumph Tiger still in its original crate!  Just sold for NZ $30000.  Here's the link: 1987 Triumph Tiger and a photo:

This is what a Tiger 750 looks like out of the crate:

How about this for a fabulous bit of engineering?  A replica of an 1896 Roper steam motorcycle built from scratch by a guy not far to the south of us here in NZ.  Link is here: Steam bike for sale with 20 photos.

I'd buy it myself except that I have this nagging feeling that death at the hands of a loved one might follow shortly thereafter.  Just the thing for fellow blogger Bobscoot to buy though as he seems to acquire farkles on an unrestricted basis!

So many toys, so little permission.  Sigh.......

  1. Geoff:

somehow I get the feeling that you are on the Verge . . .

get the SRX600, or SRX6 , then I will have something to use. I've always liked those bikes. Tell Jenny that you are storing it for a friend and that "he" plans to pay you back someday, but in the meantime you have to keep the gas fresh and the battery charged

That steam motorcycle looks like the answer to our energy problems. Beats sending our lovely coal to China. Is that an original or a repro? Never seen anything like that. Puts my (nearly as rare) Yam XZ550 to shame.

  3. I think so Glyn. I might be worried about losing my manhood in a boiler explosion though!

Yam XZ550 - it is a rare one! When I bought my GB 400 in 1987, a mate got an XZ550 and it blew up 2 years later!

  4. P.S, it's a repro built in Cambridge
